Implementation of Social and Emotional Learning into a school’s community pre-pandemic had proven itself difficult to accomplish. Though the need for inserting SEL steadily into different schools’ diet existed, administrative teams were met with challenges to bring teachers up to speed, create a structure for students to engage regularly in its competencies, and disseminating the competencies of SEL to all staff and stakeholders. The beginning, middle and toward the end of the COVID-19 pandemic further increased the amount of risk involved in further implementing SEL into a academically challenged system.

Rising from the ashes of COVID-19, schools initially decided to assess the academic proficiency in students before charting the path forward. A majority of schools were met with the reality that the pandemic had a significant affect on academic progression of students. And even more had to accept the detrimental mental health effects, reduced social and emotional intelligence awareness, and physical health decline that also came from the pandemic. Faced with all at hand, schools are now racing to implement more SEL and SEL related activities and curricula to help meet students where they are, and help them meet the academic challenges of today.

We’ve been contacted by a considerable amount of organizations to adopt the type of SEL we offer; To achieve the 11% increase in the academic success of students, invoke a shared reverence for SEL by all stakeholders, and witness the behavioral change.
